Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds
Minutes of the April 14, 2011 Meeting

Present:  Robert Lutts, Raymond Vaillancourt, Thaddeus Buzcko and William Goreham

The meeting was called to order by Robert Lutts at 5:30 P.M.

The Salem Council on Aging submitted requests for medication expense reimbursements. This request is part of the yearly expenditures from the Endicott Fund.   Robert Lutts made a motion to approve $401.18 from the Endicott Fund.
The motion was seconded by Raymond Vaillancourt and voted unanimously.

The Salem Council on Aging requested assistance from the Discretionary Fund to assist an elderly Salem residence in moving.  The Board reviewed the application and Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approve the $750.00 request from the Discretionary Funds.  The motion was seconded by Thaddeus Buzcko and voted unanimously.

The Salem Council on Aging requested assistance from the Endicott Fund for a resident with severe lung disease who was unable to purchase an air conditioner.  Verification was provided by the resident’s primary care physician.  The Board reviewed the application and verifications and Thaddeus Buczko made a motion to approve $684.81 from the Endicott Fund for the purchase.  The motion was seconded by Robert Lutts and voted unanimously.

Jennifer Reardon from the Bookholz Fund requested assistance for two workers.
Distribution of the Bookholz Fund is at the discretion of the Bookholz Committee.  Two checks for $500.00 each will be forwarded to the Committee.

SHS Senior Celebration 2011 Committee requested funding for their After the Prom activities.  This group provides supervision and activities for Salem High School students after the prom.  The will help provide a memorable, fun-filled, safe night for the students.  Robert Lutts made a motion to approve $500.00 from the Browne Fund for the activities.  The motion was seconded by Thaddeus Buzcko and voted unanimously.

The Salem Community Childcare/Afterschool Summer Camp group requested funding for summer activities.  This funding would help the camp with an educational field trip as well as purchasing literacy supplies.  Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approve $500.00 from the Discretionary Fund for these activities.  The motion was seconded by William Goreham and voted unanimously.

The Large Grant Read Lecture funding, $2,500.00, was dispersed last month to all those participating speakers at the Salem State Darwin Festival.

William Goreham made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 10, 2011 meeting.  The motion was seconded by Raymond Vaillancourt and voted unanimously.

Salem Cyberspace will celebrate the graduation of their Class of 2011 at the House of Seven Gables on May 5, 2011.  The Board has been invited to attend.

The Board received a $100.00 donation for the Class of 41’ Scholarship Fund.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 P.M.
